授業の目的 【英語】 Goals of the Course | | This course aims to familiarize Microeconomic terms with the students with real-time examples and visualization. Several applications, such as price indices and taxes, are discussed to illustrate the concepts of Microeconomics. With the lectures and series of review questions, students will be able to learn the key concepts of Microeconomics and will be able to solve the economic issues related to consumers, firms, and competitive markets. |

授業の内容や構成 Course Content / Plan | | This course intends to cover major topics of microeconomics in depth.
1. How the market works? Supply, demand, and government policies. 2. Markets and welfare 3. Is trade good? The winners and losers from trade (Assignment 1) 4. Application of trade: Trade agreements, the World Trade Organization, and the Trade Policy of Trump 5. The economics of the public sector: public goods and common resources (Assignment 2 & Review of Assignment 1) 6. Preferences, utility, and constrained consumer choice 7. Applying consumer theory: Income and Substitution Effects (Assignment 3 & Review of Assignment 2) 8. Firms and production: Production function and return to scale 9. The nature of costs: What are costs? (Assignment 4 & Review of Assignment 3) 10. Competitive equilibrium 11. Game theory: Is it rational? (Assignment 5 & Review of Assignment 4) 12. Application of game theory: Two-person zero-sum game 13. Monopoly and monopolistic competition (Review of Assignment 5) 14. Markets with only a few sellers: Oligopoly 15. 成績評価の方法と基準 Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | 1. Lecture review questions (12 points * 5) 60% and, 2. Final Examination (40 points) 40%. Getting a total average above 60% is necessary to pass the course. Details will be explained in the first lecture |
