Goals of the Course
This course aims to help students to deepen their understanding of Macroeconomic issues including nations' income, interest rate, and unemployment. At the end of the course, students will be more familiar with fiscal and monetary policies and understand the appropriate way to measure a nation’s living standards.

Course Content / Plan
This course intends to cover major topics of Macroeconomics.

1. How can we measure a nation’s income? The measurement of GDP
2. Measuring the cost of living: The Consumer Price Index
3. Economic growth and productivity: The real economy in the long run (Assignment 1)
4. What is the meaning of Saving and Investment
5. Measuring the time value of money (Assignment 2 & Review of Assignment 1)
6. Identifying unemployment
7. What is the monetary system: The meaning of money (Assignment 3 & Review of Assignment 2)
8. What is Inflation?
9. Basic concepts of the open economy (Assignment 4 & Review of Assignment 3)
10. Equilibrium in the open economy
11. How can we capture aggregate demand and supply? Short-run economic fluctuations (Assignment 5 & Review of Assignment 4)
12. The monetary and fiscal policy: How does it affect aggregate demand?
13. Inflation and unemployment: The Phillips curve (Review of Assignment 5)
14. Debates on Macroeconomic policy
15. Final summary and final evaluation.

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
1. Lecture review questions (12 points * 5) 60% and,
2. Final Evaluation (40 points) 40%.
Getting a total average above 60% is necessary to pass the course.

Study Load(Self-directed Learning Outside Course Hours)
It is highly recommended to read and think about the corresponding chapters and basic questions before the class to actively participate in the lecture.
After the lecture, students should solve exercises for review study and submit answers to the review questions if necessary.
Details will be explained in the first lecture.

Lecture format, etc.
If the educational activity level is 1 or less, face-to-face lessons will be held in principle. However, for students who do not wish to take face-to-face lessons, it will be conducted "face-to-face / ICT-based remote classes (two-way or simultaneous on-demand)". ICT-based remote classes will be conducted by TACT etc. When conducting an on-demand lesson, students should use the TACT feature "Messages" to ask teachers questions and exchange opinions about lessons between students.
