基礎的な分子生物学的知識，特に細胞核と染色体に関する生命プロセスについて理解する．
テロメアの生理的な機能と重要性，および進化的な多様性について理解する．

Goals of the Course

To understand basic molecular biology, especially life processes related to cell nuclei and chromosomes.
To understand the physiological function and importance of telomeres and their evolutionary diversity.

1. 細胞（特に動物細胞）がどのように増殖しているか
2. 染色体はどのように継承されているか
3. テロメアの生理的な機能
4. テロメアが老化やがん化とどのように関わっているのか

Objectives of the Course

The student should be able to understand and explain the followings:
1. how cells (especially animal cells) grow;
2. how chromosomes are inherited;
3. the physiological function of telomeres;
4. how telomeres are involved in aging and cancer.
