私たちの心とはどのようなものなのだろうか？認知科学は情報処理の視点からこの問いに挑んでいる研究分野である。本講義では、主に心理学的・行動学的アプローチを題材として、認知科学に対する総合的な理解を深めることを目的とする。授業では、ヒトやヒト以外の動物における諸認知現象とそのメカニズムを扱い、従来の考え方から最新の研究動向まで概観する。また、認知科学が私たちの生活の中でどのように応用されているかについても紹介する。

Goals of the Course
What is the mind? Cognitive science is a research field that tackles this question from the perspective of information processing. The purpose of this course is to deepen the comprehensive understanding of cognitive science by introducing psychological and behavioral approaches as the main themes. In this class, we will cover various cognitive phenomena and mechanisms in humans and other animals, providing an overview of research trends from conventional thinking to the latest. Additionally, we will discuss how cognitive science is applied in our daily lives.

この講義により学生は下記の学習目標を実現できると期待される。
1. 認知現象に関する疑問についてリサーチクエスチョンを立てることができる。
2. リサーチクエスチョンに答えるための科学的なアプローチを検討することができる。

5. 心を科学する態度及び基礎的な方法論を獲得できる。

Objectives of the Course
Students will be able to (1) create research questions about cognitive phenomena, (2) consider a scientific approach to answer the research questions (3) imagine the research activities that researchers carry out in their daily lives, (4) explain what cognitive science aims to achieve, and (5) acquire an scientific attitude and basic methodology for studying the mind.
