授業の目的 【英語】 Goals of the Course | | The purpose of this course is to understand the basic concepts of Cognitive Linguistics, with special reference to Japanese and English. |

授業の内容や構成 Course Content / Plan | | Every class will start with an introduction to one topic in Cognitive Linguistics, which will be followed by a discussion on further examples. Topics to be covered include the following:
I. Cognitive view of linguistic meaning - Frames - Fictivity - Prototype II. Networks of linguistic knowledge - Sense units - Traditional view of polysemy - Cognitive view of polysemy - Syntactic constructions - Morphological constructions III. Crosslinguistic comparison - Language and thought - Framing typology - Iconicity IV. Case studies - Sound symbolism - Ideophones |
