授業の目的 【英語】 Goals of the Course | | This course is intended to introduce students with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are forming the framework of the current UN Development Agenda, “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” and the work of the UN system and other main international organizations in implementing them. The course will begin by the background of how they were adopted as the successor of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), how they are different and what is the follow-up process (Part I). Then, each of the seventeen SDGs will be examined closely with key international organizations for the respective goals (Part II). Students will be engaged with role plays after every several goals are looked at closely in order to understand the roles of the relevant international organizations and other stakeholders in implementing those goals. The outcomes of the follow-up mechanism, the High-Level Political Forum will be examined closely and consider how the implementation is progressing (Part III).

Planet ① : SDG 6: Clean water and sanitation 7. Planet ② : SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production; and SDG 13: Climate action 8. Planet ③ : SDG 14: Life below water; and SDG 15: Life on land 9. Prosperity ① : SDG 7: Affordable and clean energy 10. Prosperity ② : SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth; and SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure 11. Prosperity ③ : SDG 10: Reduced inequalities; and SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities 12. Peace: SDG 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions; and Partnership: SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals Part III
