地球生命圏の生物の出現・進化・繁栄・絶滅とその環境背景について、最新の知識を習得し議論をおこなう。
また、それらに関する情報を得るスキルを身につける。

Goals of the Course
This course aims to provide an opportunity for students to gain understanding on environmental background of life form's origination, evolution and extinction. Also students learn their skill to find latest scientific knowledge and information.

本授業の終了時には、学生は地球生命史上の生態系変化と環境の概観について基本的概念を習得する。また、受講経験を経て、最新の科学情報を得る習慣を身につけることも目標とする。

Objectives of the Course
Students acquire the basic concepts about changes in the ecosystem environment in Earth history. Students also contract their habit of getting the latest scientific information.

1．ガイダンス、参加院生の専門関心の把握
　論文情報収集の方法について
　教科書の選択、指定論文資料の配布・共有
2．指定論文資料の輪読（主に三畳紀、ジュラ紀の環境について）
3．巡検（岐阜県坂祝町、三畳紀、ジュラ紀の深海地層を見学）
4．選択教科書の輪読
5．自由選択論文の輪読　受講生の発表（1〜2人ずつ）
1. Introduction
2. Reading research papers on Mesozoic environment and ecosystem
3. Field trip around Mesozoic deep-sea sedimentary strata (Sakahogi, Gifu)

Course Prerequisites and Related Courses
基礎的な地質学・古生物学の知識があることが望ましいが必須ではない。
Basic knowledge of geology and palaeontology is desirable but not essential.
成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
出席・受講態度（30％）、輪読・論文読解の理解度（70％）
全体で60％以上を合格とする。
Attitude(30%) and explanations on the texts and articles which students read (70%).
A score above or equal to 60 is required for credits.
