Goals of the Course(JPN) | | 【授業の目的】従来の都市社会学では、シカゴ学派と新都市社会学を2つの柱としてその古典的業績を学ぶのがセオリーであった。しかし、今日では都市化が発展途上国も席巻し、その現れ方もこれまでになく多様化し、従来の枠組では捉えることができない変化が増えている。本授業では都市化のグローバルな展開に関する代表的な研究を解読し、都市社会学における今日的な理論的論点や課題について理解を深めることを目的とする。

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan | | 授業は対面で実施する（全学344教室）。
【授業の構成】テキスト（"The Globalizing Cities Reader"）を講読し、都市化の現代的特徴や国、地域による多様性、研究の理論的論点について討議する。
1 グローバル都市論の登場
サッセンやフリードマンの問題提起
2 発展途上国の都市化の諸相
主にアジア諸国に照準し、都市化の普遍性や地域的多様性、現代的な変化について理解を深める
3 新しい理論動向
transnationalism、planetary urbanization 、global suburbanizationなど都市研究の新しい理論的論点について理解を深める
【授業時間外学習の指示】授業開始時までに所定の論文を必ず熟読し、論点を整理しておくこと
| Structure of the seminar: Reputable articles involved in "The Globalizing Cities Reader". Participants are expected to report and discuss about the articles.
1. What is "global city"?
2 Urbanization in the developing countries
3 New theoretical trends in urban studies
Students are requested to read every article in advance. |

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | ・報告、ディスカッションへの貢献、期末レポートによって評価する。
・期末レポートは、災害研究の理論枠組を用いて具体的な災害事例を分析し、防災の課題を論じるものとする。
・ディスカッションへの「貢献」とは、テーマへの理解を深めるような問いや意見を発することを指す。
・報告25%、ディスカッションへの貢献25%、期末レポート50%で点数をつけ、100点満点で60点以上を合格とする。 | - Evaluation is based on presentation(25%), contribution to discussion(25%) and final report(50%). The score above or equal to 60 is required for credits.
- Theme of final report is to discuss challenges of disaster risk reduction based on the theoretical and empirical analysis of particular disaster.
- Contribution to discussion means making useful remarks on the issues. |
