Goals of the Course [JPN] | | 専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め，異文化理解を深めて，国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的です。学会や社会で求められるプレゼンテーションを行えるよう，リーディング・スピーキング・リスニング・ライティングの各能力を高め，また４技能の統合を目指します。

Textbook | | | For medical students, a free 224 page Medical Book - MedCab will be uploaded to the server. Approximately 12 hours and 34 minutes of audio that accompany the book will be uploaded as well, of course, free. There will be Japanese translations for all 1,240 sentences. For the Information Science students, a 132-page book will be provided free of charge, 52 Cards to Success - Science and Engineering. Pronunciation audio will be provided to everyone along with the booklet. |

Message from the Instructor | | 課外学習の説明資料は、アカデミック・イングリッシュ支援室のサイト ( http://elearn.ilas.nagoya-u.ac.jp/access/ ) からダウンロードすること。
All students need playing cards (Trump cards) for every class. These cards are essential to the successful progression of the course. If students forget their books, they can share them with others. This is impossible with playing cards; every student needs 52 cards for each and every class. These card activities are exciting but extremely challenging. Extremely challenging. This class will be a mixture of medical and information science students, so feel free to download other textbooks provided free of charge by Jones.
Jones has a minor in Speech Communication, so he understands how to help students overcome their fear of speaking, and it's really quite simple, given proper instruction, observation, and analysis/feedback. In the case of remote learning due to COVID, Jones has a professional studio here with five video cameras, mixers, and video switchers, so the class will still be highly effective and productive. |
