Goals of the Course(JPN)
Goals of the Course
This course has two aims. The first is to provide students with the technical skills needed to read and analyze 16th and 17th-century poetry in English, including but not limited to the often quite difficult verse of William Shakespeare. The second is to introduce students to the basics of English literary history c.1520-c1640, in relation to broader cultural, political, religious, and scientific contexts.
