授業の目的 【英語】 Goals of the Course | | This survey course introduces undergraduate students to the historical developments in post-World War II Asian cinema cultures. It critically examines the film cultures within the larger socio-cultural contexts of East and Southeast Asia, regions that have experienced significant transformations since the end of the Cold War in 1989. The course content is structured in the “classic” format of national cinema, but also delves into the dynamics of transnational cinema, highlighting the role of film festivals and various networks and entities in shaping these cultures. Areas of focus include the film industries and movements in regions such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, the People’s Republic of China, South Korea, Japan, and Southeast Asian countries like the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand. |
