Objectives of the Course | | At the end of this course, participants are expected to:
- be able to read and understand columns and essays in newspaper articles on social science.
- be able to use conjunctions correctly and effectively
- be able to paraphrase sentences
- be able to construct paragraphs well |

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan | | 1. Critical reading using columns/essays from newspaper articles.
2. Getting meanings of the context of the articles.
To understand the meanings of vocabularies, idioms, and background in the context.
3. Writing summaries of the articles.
To use synonyms, various vocabularies, grammar points and a wide range of sentence structure
- Students must submit the assignments after the class.

Course Prerequisites and Related Courses | | Students who received an Exemption of Japanese language course in an International and exchange center are under-qualified to sign up for this course.
Students require Japanese proficiency level N2 or N1.

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | - attendance and contribution to class discussions ・・・15%
- assignment ・・・50%
- final examination (oral examination) ・・・35%
To pass,
- students must participate and actively express what they have understood in the class and their thoughts on the topics
- students must show their understanding and paraphrase sentences in articles.

Notice for Students | | This course will be taught in Japanese. This syllabus is temporary. It may be altered due to the students' Japanese proficiency level. They are required to prepare and review each lesson. In addition to the lecturer's assignments, they are expected to carry out work independently.

※Being late three times is counted as one absence.
