(5) Modern History of International Politics (1): From the 17th Century to the 19th Century (ch .3)
(6) Modern History of International Politics (2): The Origins of the First World War (ch. 3)
(7) Modern History of International Politics (3): The Interwar Years to the Second World War (ch. 4)
(8) Modern History of International Politics (4): The Cold War (ch. 5)
(9) Conflict and Cooperation in the Post-Cold War World (ch. 6)
(10) Current Flashpoints (1): Eastern Europe & the Near East (ch. 7)
(11) Current Flashpoints (2): South Asia & East Asia (ch. 7)
(12) Globalization and Interdependence (ch. 8)
(13) The Information Revolution and Transnational Actors (ch. 9)

(15) Essay Submission
Each class will begin with a lecture by the course tutor, followed by a class discussion. Participants are required to complete the weekly required reading and participate in the class discussions. |

成績評価の方法と基準 Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | Evaluation will be based on the following criteria.
1. Contribution to class discussions: 50%
2. Quality of end-of-term essay: 50%
The above criteria will be added up to compile your final mark. Benchmark for a passing grade: refer to the student handbook (C grade is above 60%). |
