Goals of the Course(JPN) | | | 本授業の目的は、英米を中心とした世界各国の探偵小説（と派生ジャンル）を読むことで、探偵小説というジャンルの歴史と特徴を概観することである。エドガー・アラン・ポーやアーサー・コナン・ドイル等の古典的な作品からホルヘ・ルイス・ボルヘスやサラ・パレツキー等のよるより現代的な作品へと読み進めることで、探偵小説全般に共通の要素を把握しつつ、それぞれの作家の創意工夫にも目を向けて行く。 |

授業の目的 【英語】
Goals of the Course | | | The purpose of this class is to provide an overview of the history and characteristics of the detective fiction genre by reading detective fiction (and works in closely related genres) by British and American authors as well as notable authors from around the world. We will begin by reading classic works by authors such as Edgar Allan Poe and Arthur Conan Doyle, and then move on to more contemporary works by Jorge Luis Borges and Sara Paretsky, among others. The goal is to become familiar with elements common to detective fiction in general while also focusing on the innovative qualities of individual authors and their works. |
