授業の目的 【英語】 Goals of the Course | | This course will look at the consequences of intergroup contact, in particular, stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination, and their social consequences. Part I will focus on how people develop stereotypes and prejudice through intergroup contact, and how these can be mitigated. Part II will look at the social consequences of prejudice, focusing on both the perpetrator and recipient of discrimination. We will read and discuss chapters of two comprehensive books on the matter of prejudice, and through our readings, we will learn cognitive, emotional, and behavioral facets of outgroup hatred, and how we can mitigate their effects on how we view and act toward others. |
