応用昆虫学分野の中でも、害虫防除に関する理解を深めることを目標とする。特に総合的病害虫管理 (IPM) に含まれる複数の防除技術について学ぶ。

Objectives of the Course
The aims of this course are to gain fundamental knowledge on Applied Entomology, especially on the pest insect management. We especially focus on several strategies in Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan
以下の流れで講義を進める。履修生は、担当するテーマについて英語でプレゼンテーションを行い、それに基づいて皆で討論を行う。
１．害虫防除および総合的病害虫管理 (IPM) に関するイントロダクション
２．耕種的防除に関する発表
３．生物的防除に関する発表
４．物理的防除に関する発表
５．化学的防除に関する発表
６．まとめ

Each attendee will be requested to prepare and make a presentation on one of the subjects regarding IPM strategies. All attendees must participate in the discussion actively.
1. Introduction on pest insect management and Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
2. Presentation on cultural control strategies
3. Presentation on biological control strategies
4. Presentation on mechanical (physical) control strategies
5. Presentation on chemical control strategies
6. Summary

Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
授業への取り組み、および発表やディスカッションへの参加態度などにより総合的に評価する。
Grading will be decided considering comprehensively attendance, presentation and active participation in the discussion.

各履修生は、担当するテーマについてプレゼンテーションの準備を行う。担当回以外でも、講義内容について予習・復習を行い、講義時に積極的にディスカッションに参加するよう心がける。
Each attendee will be requested to prepare and make a presentation. Even when you are not the presenter, it is always required for the attendees to investigate the respective subjects via prior learning and to actively participate in the discussion during class.
