授業の目的 【英語】 Goals of the Course | | This is a thesis prep seminar. In this seminar, each week, students will make presentations on their research in progress in turn to gain comments and feedback from their advisor and fellow seminar participants, to prepare themselves to conduct research for their master’s theses or doctoral dissertations. Through these weekly exercise, they will improve their knowledge and skills necessary to conduct their research, develop their research questions and conceptual frameworks, and analyze the data that they have collected in the field. They will also learn ways to make sense of their research outcomes and draw sensible policy implications to inform the government policy. |

履修条件・関連する科目 Course Prerequisites and Related Courses | | Basic presentation skills. Prerequisite: M2 students are required to have taken Seminar I a and I b. |

成績評価の方法と基準 Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | As this is a thesis-prep seminar, students’ performance will be assessed on the basis of the quality of their presentations (40%), their efforts to make progress in their research (30%), and their weekly contribution to classroom discussions (30%).
Credit is given of C- or C (where applicable) or higher grade by assessing each criterion. |

教科書・参考書 Textbook/Reference Book | | Relevant reading materials/references will be recommended to individual students in accordance with their research topics and needs. |

課外学習等(授業時間外学習の指示) Study Load(Self-directed Learning Outside Course Hours) | | Assignments will be provided in class. Students are required to prepare their in-class presentations on their research in progress. Outside the seminar, students are expected to make appointments with their advisor and consult with her on their research on a regular basis. |
