Goals of the Course
This Overseas Fieldwork (OFW) aims to provide students an opportunity to gain experience conducting a research project about a developing country and group work with people who have different backgrounds. In 2024, students will conduct fieldwork in Cambodia. Students will be able to gain fundamental fieldwork skills and enhance their communication skills and problem-solving skills based on group work.

Learn real development issues confronting many developing countries of today.
Acquire an interdisciplinary perspective through group work with students from different academic disciplines.

Nurture their insights and skills for coordinating among stakeholders.

Improve their communication skills through group work with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.

Conduct an online research project in English.

Course Content / Plan
A detailed fieldwork schedule will be announced at the Preparatory Seminar for GSID Overseas Fieldwork (OFW). Before going to the field, students are required to have regular group meetings to develop their fieldwork plan.

Note: The course "Preparatory Seminar for GSID Overseas Fieldwork " is a required prerequisite to participate in OFW
成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
Group report 40%, Group presentation 30%, Participation in group work 30%
Credit is given to C- or C (where applicable) or higher grades for each criterion.
Students have to submit the final fieldwork report by the beginning of January 2025.
