この講義は春学期の「開発経済学」の続きとして、大学院レベルの初学者に向けた開発経済学の国際的な側面をカバーする。内容的には1)国際貿易(理論と実証)と途上国の開発政策、2)海外直接投資と技術波及、3)国際移民、4)国際資本移動、5)海外からの援助、6)環境問題を予定しています。

Goals of the Course
This cource covers the international aspects of development economics for first-learners at graduate level as the sequel course to "Development Economics" in the First semester. The topics to be covered include (1) international trade (theory and evidence) and development strategies in developing countries, (2) foreign direct investment and technological diffusion, (3) international migration, (4) international capital movements, (5) role of foreign aids as well as (6) economic integration or environmental issues.

「開発経済学」(春学期)に続き、この講義を履修する学生は、開発経済学の国際的な側面に関する基礎的な知識や理解を深めることにより、経済学で使われる概念やツールを用いて、経済開発に対する自分の考え方を発展させることができるようになります。この講義は開発経済学の主要な原理について直感的に理解し、政策的インプリケーションを引き出す実証的な研究に精通することに重点を置きます。

Objectives of the Course
Following "Development Economics" in te spring term, Students are expected to learn the basic knowledge/understanding of international aspects of development economics so that they can develop their own ideas on economic development using concepts and tools of economics. This cource lecture will emphasize on intuitional understanding of major principles of development economics and empirical research to draw policy implications with a focus on international development issues.
授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan
This course covers international aspects of development economics fousing on the impact of the progress of globalization on developing countries. This course emphasizes on empirical research on globalization to serve as evidence based policy making. After the overview of globalization, this cource covers international trade and development strategy, foreign direct investment, international migration, foreign aids etc.

2. Mathematics and statistics relevant to the lecture may be reviewed in the class if necessary.

Course Prerequisites and Related Courses
This course will accommodate first-time learners of development economics. Concurrent registrations for relevant classes such as “Development Macroeconomics” and “Development Microeconomics” are recommended.
成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
A term paper/report (70%) and class participation/contribution (30%). Details will be discussed in the class.
Credit is given of C- or C(where applicable)or higher for each graded criterion.
