授業の目的 【英語】 Goals of the Course | | For the purpose of this course, “East Asia” refers to greater area of the East and Southeast Asia and the Pacific. This course aims both to develop understanding of international human rights law and to think about solutions for challenges of current human rights situations in the world, putting particular emphasis on the East Asian situations. For that purpose, the course stimulates students to develop their competence to critically analyse the various documents issued by the UN treaties bodies and human rights mandate holders. Through such a process, the course would inspire the participants’ interests in the historical structure of each of East Asian laws. |

到達目標 【英語】 Objectives of the Course | | 1. The students are expected to make sure their own knowledge about international human rights law as provided by the course “Professional Studies in International Human Rights Law I”.
2. The students are expected to develop the competence to make search in the UN human rights documents,
3. The students are expected to make sure themselves to read the documents more exactly in the context of international human rights law.
4. It is further expected for students to develop their competence to critically analyse the dominant theories in human rights law discourse. |

授業の内容や構成 Course Content / Plan | | The course is conducted in the form of seminar. It means participants' (students') driven process, where, in principle, they discuss a particular topic kicked off by a well-prepared presentation in each session. For this academic year, the seminar will focus on the implementation in East Asia of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability (CPRD Convention) through the reporting before the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disability (CPRD Committee). The following is possible flow of the seminar (subject to changes announced in the course).
1. Overview of the issues around the seminar topic
2. How to prepare reports on evaluation of each country's CPRD implementation
3. Discussions about reporting and concluding observations about respective countries.
4. Wrap-up discussion |

履修条件・関連する科目 Course Prerequisites and Related Courses | | No requirement in relation to other course. It is highly recommended to take "Professonal Studies in International Human Rights Law I" in advance or have learnt basic knowledge as provided in that course. |

成績評価の方法と基準 Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | Presentation and paper assignment, in light of the standards set out in the column "Course Targets". If you reach to the level of standards except in item 4, you will be passed. |

授業開講形態等 Lecture format, etc. | | The course is jointly organised for both of "Research of East Asian Law IIB" and "Professional Studies in International Law II". The students involved in JICA programme are extected to enrol in "Research of East Asian Law IIB", while the other students may enrol in "Professional Studies in International LawI II". |
