Goals of the Course [JPN] | | 専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め，異文化理解を深めて，国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的です。そのねらいは，研究拠点大学である名古屋大学の学生にふさわしい学術英語を使いこなす能力を身につけるところにあります。学術的な英文に関する基礎的なリーディング能力とライティング能力を養成します。

Objectives of the Course [JPN] | | | 論理的な英文のカギとなるパラグラフの構造に着目し、目的に応じて必要な情報をいかに読みとるか、また逆に、自分の考えをその根拠とともにいかに説得力ある論理的な英文に組み立てるかを学ぶ。将来、専門の論文を英語で読んだり書いたりする時に、指針となる英文構成法の基礎、および実際に役立つ英語表現を多く習得する。 |

Objectives of the Course [ENG] | | | Students learn paragraph structure and logical expression in English, practice reading for necessary information, and practice expressing thoughts clearly and convincingly. Students will learn basic composition skills and practical English expression. |

授業の内容や構成
Course Content or Plan | | Students will use their own English as much as they can. This is a chance to practice using English naturally while also learning about academic English and developing skills in reading and writing.
We will work on writing well-structured paragraphs and practice a writing process that includes thinking, organizing, writing, and revising to improve written work.
Every week students will write a paragraph, which will be read by their classmates. Three times during the course students will re-write a paper based on comments from classmates and submit it for a grade.
We will read both in class and extensively outside of class, and keep a journal of all books read. |

履修取下げの際に申し出を必要としない。５回以上欠席をした場合、「Ｗ」とする。 |
