Goals of the Course [JPN] | | 専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め，異文化理解を深めて，国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的です。そのねらいは，研究拠点大学である名古屋大学の学生にふさわしい学術英語を使いこなす能力を身につけるところにあります。学術的な英文に関する基礎的なリーディング能力とライティング能力を養成します。

Objectives of the Course [JPN] | | | 論理的な英文のカギとなるパラグラフの構造に着目し、目的に応じて必要な情報をいかに読みとるか、また逆に、自分の考えをその根拠とともにいかに説得力ある論理的な英文に組み立てるかを学ぶ。将来、専門の論文を英語で読んだり書いたりする時に、指針となる英文構成法の基礎、および実際に役立つ英語表現を多く習得する。 |

授業の達成目標 【英語】
Objectives of the Course [ENG] | | Students will gain a basic understanding of how to construct a thesis statement, develop topic sentences, provide supporting evidence, and form a conclusion to create an effective composition. They will also learn the fundamental mechanics of composition in order to successfully write a well-crafted coherent paragraph and a five-paragraph cohesive essay.
This course introduces the fundamentals of English composition, focusing on building students' writing capabilities from basic to an intermediate level. Instruction will emphasize the development of strategies for organizing and synthesizing smaller units of writing, such as sentences and paragraphs, into larger compositions. |

Week 10 – Differences between summarizing vs. paraphrasing
Week 11 – Introduction to essay writing / Essay – peer editing and revising
Week 12 – Constructing body paragraphs / Essay – peer

Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | Classwork/Participation 15%, Homework 5%, Paragraph writing (3 x 5) 15%, Final paragraph 10%, Essay writing (3 x 5)15%, Final Essay 20%, and E-learning 20%.
履修取下げの際に申し出を必要としない。５回以上欠席をした場合、「Ｗ」とする。 |
