専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め，異文化理解を深めて，国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的です。リスニングとスピーキングを主としたコミュニケーションの能力を高め，ディスカッションやプレゼンテーションのための基礎力を養成します。

Goals of the Course [ENG]
This course is intended to improve students’ skills in listening and speaking suitable for academic communication in English. Students will develop basic oral/aural communication skills for academic discussion and presentation.

授業の内容や構成
Course Content or Plan
Students will make presentations on English language books that they have read and on newspaper or scientific/academic articles.

Each student will make at least three presentations - on different weeks. We will arrange a schedule in our first meeting.


First presentation; free choice - suggested subjects: a hobby, an aspect of Japanese culture or the culture of another country

Second presentation; a presentation of a literary text (novel, short story or poem) OR a discussion of a an issue raised by a newspaper or magazine article

Third presentation; a subject related to your academic subject.

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
TOEFL-ITP 30%, e-Learning 20%, In-class 50%: The students will be evaluated on presentations. and participation. No written exam.
履修取下げの際に申し出を必要としない。５回以上欠席をした場合、「Ｗ」とする。

e-Learning教材の実施状況を成績評価の20％とする。

Notice for Students
授業を未受講、または評価が「Ｗ」となった場合、次の期の単位補充クラスを受講できない。同じ科目を再履修できるのは次の次の期（1年後）になる。進級・卒業に支障をきたさないよう十分注意すること。「履修の手引き」の英語科目の注意事項を要確認。12月のTOEFL ITP受験が必要。
