専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め，異文化理解を深めて，国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的です。英語という言語，その言語が培ってきた文化，および現代社会における英語文化についての深い教養を身につけます。

This course is intended to help students gain a deeper understanding of the English language and English-based cultures in the modern world. The course provides students with opportunities to engage in a range of academic tasks that cultivate awareness and appreciation of contemporary issues concerning the English language and English-based cultures.

英語・英語文化にかかわる様々な主題についての文献・資料調査、調査に基づく英語による口頭発表など、少人数授業の利点を生かした学習活動を行い、研究拠点大学である名古屋大学の学生にふさわしい学術英語の運用能力をさらに高める。

Objectives of the Course [ENG]
Small group discussions about social topics further develop your English. Groups of students make oral presentations.
授業の内容や構成
Course Content or Plan
Students will read essays before class, and discuss questions related to these essays during class time. They will debate questions related to the general topic of the essay.

Students will work in small groups to deliver oral presentations about a book of their choice.

Each student will choose an independent project to work on outside of class. This may involve reading, conversation, or language-related circle activities.

Cコースの学生は、英語（サバイバル）に合格した者のみ履修可。
成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
Group presentation 30%, Independent project 20%, Weekly quizzes 15%, Active participation 15%, e-Learning 20%.
履修取下げの際に申し出を必要としない。５回以上欠席をした場合、「Ｗ」とする。

e-Learning教材の実施状況を成績評価の20％とする。インデペンデント・プロジェクトを選択し、完了すること。
