【Standardized across all programs】 Nowadays, the human resources requirements which society needs have been changed drastically. Traditional employment system such as seniority system, a career-long employment has been shifted to Job-type employment and other types. Also, people have chosen a career-change compared to before.

A “CAREER” is all events that make up your life. You can choose your career from a wide variety of careers based on your experiences at university. The goal of this course is that you think deeply about your career and get a hint from lectures in a variety of fields and professionals to find the way to form your career.

Objectives of the Course [ENG]
As with any journey, your life journey benefits from elaborate planning and preparation. This course is designed to support you in the earliest stages of your career planning and development as a part of your life design. It aims to provide you with a toolkit for this ongoing and lifelong process of designing your future.

The course will guide you through such questions, as
✔ what do you want to do with your life,
✔ what are your possible career options and what of them really interest you,
✔ what skills do you already have and what do you need to improve,
✔ how to develop needed skills and get practical experience while at school,
✔ how to incorporate academic and extracurricular activities into your lifelong plan.
授業の内容や構成
Course Content or Plan
The course is divided into three main parts: the first module focuses on self-assessment, the second module invites you to explore various career options, and the third module invites you to apply the new-gained knowledge and insights to designing a model personal development plan and communicate it to other participants.

The course balances lectures, group discussions, and workshops taking advantage of the various backgrounds of international students. It introduces the basic theoretical concepts of self-assessment and personal development, as well as practical tools necessary for job hunting and building a successful career.

The course outline below is tentative, but we are planning to cover the following topics:

1. Class introduction: The mechanics of the course, icebreaking
2. Introduction to the concepts of life design and career planning
3-4. Self-Presentation & Public Speaking
5. Self-management
6. Graduate school in Japan and abroad
7. Job-hunting process in Japan & on-campus resources
8-9. Japanese Companies, working culture, and innovation management
10-11. Entrepreneurship: Corporate Mindset & Entrepreneurial Mindset
12. Role models: Alumni Career Paths
13-14. Final Presentations: Career Decision-Making & Personal Development Plan
15. Revising the Personal Development Plan & Overall discussion

Course Prerequisites and Related Courses
There are no prerequisites for this course. Students are welcome to join this course provided they are willing to engage in an enjoyable but challenging process of self- and career exploration and are ready to proactively exchange opinions in class.

Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
Attendance: 15%
Projects and tasks assigned by each instructor: 50%
20% for Self-assessment & Personal Development Module
30% for Career Exploration Module
Final presentation: 35%
