Goals of the Course [JPN]
現代世界を考える上で，市場経済のメカニズムの理解は必要不可欠です。グローバルな問題，例えば環境問題や南北問題等を市場経済の成果や失敗として読み解くことができます。日本においても，経済構造改革，社会保障改革や格差の問題をめぐる議論で，経済を市場にどこまで委ねるべきかが問われています。この講義では，市場経済の歴史やその仕組みを理解し，現実の経済問題に対する洞察力を高めることを目的とします。

Goals of the Course [ENG]
This course introduces students to the market economy. Understanding the history and the mechanism of the market economy is indispensable for thinking about the modern world. Many of the problems that nations and the world face such as environmental destruction, unemployment, poverty, education and health can be understood as the fruits and failures of the market. The aim of this course is to promote students' understanding of the market economy and to develop insight into real economic problems.
