Goals of the Course | | | The purpose of this course is to acquire the basic academic skills and knowledge for reading academic books on ｔhe history of the ancient Near East through a close reading of the up-to-date history of the Assyrian kingdom in the ancient Mesopotamia, the model for later world empires. |

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan | | この授業では、Frahm, E., 2023, Assyria: The Rise and Fall of the World's First Empire, Londonを精読し、アッシリア王国の興亡について、近年の考古学的発掘、楔形文字資料、聖書や古典のテキストをもとに検討します。
毎回、テキストを章ごとに輪読し、担当者による発表と参加者全員による議論、教員による解説を交えて進めます。
