到達目標 【英語】 Objectives of the Course | | We will start with the assumption that students have no prior background in political science or in academic research, and will work to provide students with some of the basic tools of social science research and analysis. By the end of the course, students should have an introductory understanding of political science and the major branches of the discipline, as well as a working knowledge of academic research methodologies and paper writing. |

履修条件・関連する科目 Course Prerequisites and Related Courses | | Because this is an introductory course, no prerequisites are required. However, students should have a good command of the English language and come to class willing to discuss the week’s topic. |

成績評価の方法と基準 Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | 10% Student participation
30% Short papers (two at 15% each)
40% Final paper
20% Individual presentation
Please refer to the student handbook (i.e., a c grade= 60 above) regarding the standards for obtaining a passing grade in the course |
