Goals of the Course
This course aims to understand comparative law and legal and technical assistance, learn how to write research plans and proposals, find previous and related research, cite previous research, distinguish vocabularies among technical words in law, and rule for thesis and dissertation.

Course Content / Plan
1. Reading research articles and understanding the context of the research paper (research type)
2. Understanding the structures of the research paper
3. Understanding evaluation points and evaluating sample research plans
4. Understanding differences between similar vocabularies and practice making sentences using them
5. Understanding how to collect interview and questionnaire data and analysis methods
6. Practicing to collect interview data, transcribe the words and pick up relevant information
7. Reading Supreme Court Cases
8. Making a checklist for writing research plans and research papers

Course Prerequisites and Related Courses
Students who received an Exemption of Japanese language course in an International and exchange center are under-qualified to sign up for this course.
Students require at least Japanese proficiency N2.

Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
- attendance and contribution to class discussions ・・・15%
- assignment1 ・・・42% (every week journal writing in Japanese approximately 1000ji)
- assignment2 ・・・13% (interview data transcript in Japanese, consent form)
- final report ・・・30%
To pass,
Students must participate and actively express what they have understood in class.
Students must show their understanding of the importance of research plans and methodology.
