The aim is to encourage enjoyment of university mathematics and modern mathematics through an introduction to elliptic integrals and elliptic functions.

Objectives of the Course
The goal is to understand the following topics.
1. The relationship between the lengths of elliptic arcs and elliptic integrals.
2. The problem of single oscillations and its relation to elliptic integrals.
3. Jacobi's elliptic functions as inverse functions of elliptic integrals.
4. The additivity theorem for elliptic functions.
5. Elliptic functions of complex variables.
授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan
以下の5項目を中心に講義します．括弧内は予定授業回数です．
1. 楕円の弧長と楕円積分との関係（2回）．
2. 単振動の問題と楕円積分との関係（2回）．
3. 楕円積分の逆関数としてのJacobiの楕円関数（3回）．
4. 楕円関数の加法定理（２回）．
5. 複素変数の楕円関数（3回）．

高校数学の知識（数学IIIを含む）を仮定します．

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
5回程度のレポートに基づいて成績評価します．各レポート問題が「授業の内容や構成」にあげた各項目に凡そ対応します．1回30点で採点し，合計60点以上なら合格です．
不可(F)と欠席(W)の基準
Criteria for "Fail (F)" & "Absent (W)" grades
レポートを一度も提出しなかった場合は欠席（W）にします．
