位相および距離の概念は現代数学の様々な箇所に現れ，欠かすことのできない基本的な役割を果たす．この授業では，距離空間の典型例としてのユークリッド空間から始め，位相空間と距離空間の定義と基本的性質についてその基礎を学ぶ．

Goals of the Course

The notions of topology and metric appear in many places in modern mathematics, and often play an indispensable, fundamental role. In this course, we will start with Euclidean space as a typical example of metric space, and learn the foundations of the definition and basic properties of topological spaces and metric spaces.

この授業では，以下を身に着けることを目標とします．
１．距離空間・位相空間の基礎について，諸概念の定義と基本性質を理解し，基本的な事柄の証明ができる．
２．距離空間・位相空間の基礎に関係する諸概念について，その具体例を滞りなく扱うことができる．

Objectives of the Course

The goals of this course are to
(1) understand the definitions and fundamental properties of various notions related to the basics of metric spaces and topological spaces, and be able to prove basic results.
(2) be able to handle examples related to the basics of metric spaces and topological spaces smoothly.

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan

１．距離空間
ユークリッド空間，距離空間の定義と基本的性質，距離空間のあいだの連続写像などを中心に学習する．

２．位相空間
位相空間の定義と基本的性質，位相空間のあいだの連続写像，開基と基本近傍系，直積空間・商空間などを中心に学習する．

３．位相空間・距離空間に関わる性質
分離公理，コンパクト性，連結性，完備性などを中心に学習する．

履修条件
Course Prerequisites

現代数学基礎AI（集合と写像）の内容を十分身につけていることが必要です．
