生命科学、特に概日時計の仕組みを対象とする時間生物学の基礎的概念、および研究を遂行するために必要な手法や研究成果のまとめ方、発表方法等を学び、論理的思考力を養う。

Goals of the Course

Students will learn the basic concepts of life science, especially chronobiology that focuses on the mechanism of the circadian clock, as well as the methods necessary to carry out research, how to summarize research results, how to present research results, and develop logical thinking skills.

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan

以下の研究テーマについて最先端の知識を身につけて実験を行い、結果を適切に解釈して発表し、討論する。他のメンバーの発表に対しても討論を行う。これらの研究活動により、論理的思考力を養う。
1. 哺乳類の概日時計にかかわる時計タンパク質の機能解析
2. 時計タンパク質の構造解析
3. 概日時計の機能を変化させる化合物の探索と作用機序解析
4. 化合物を用いた新規時計タンパク質の探索
5 化合物を用いたマウス個体レベルでの生理機能の制御
6. 化合物を用いた概日時計関連疾患の治療

Acquire state-of-the-art knowledge on the following research topics, conduct experiments, interpret the results appropriately, and present and discuss the results. Discussion will also be held on the presentations of other members. Through these research activities, students will develop logical thinking skills.
1. Functional analysis of clock proteins involved in the mammalian circadian clock
2. Structural analysis of clock proteins
3. Search for compounds that control the function of the circadian clock and analysis of their mechanisms of action
4. Search for novel clock proteins using compounds
5. Regulation of physiological functions at the mouse organismal level using compounds
6. Treatment of circadian clock-related diseases using compounds
