授業の目的 【英語】 Goals of the Course | | This special course is designed for students looking to purse their careers in the international organizations, such as the United Nations, other non-UN intergovernmental organizations, international financial institutions and related entities as well as international NGOs. The course provides up-to-date and practical information as well as hands-on and pragmatic skills development seminars including individual coaching and feedback sessions. The format in general will be interactive and students are expected to actively participate and commit to developing their skills to achieve their future career goals and objectives. |

Session 3: Listening, Note-taking and Summarizing skills: Hands-on Practice
Session 4: How to Understand UN Job Descriptions; How to Market Yourself for your Dream Job
Session 5: Understand Your Strengths and Conduct Gap Analysis
Session 6: Practice Improving Resumes and Learn How to Write Cover Letter
Session 7: Different Writing Styles for Different Scenarios – e.g. Issues Brief & Talking Points
Session 8: Intergovernmental Negotiation Process; Practice Interpersonal Negotiation
Session 9: Concept Note as a Basis for Project or Event Planning and Management
Session 10: Presentation and Feedback on 7, 8 & 9
Session 11: Competency-based Interviews – Prepare Your Stories to be used in the Interviews
Session 12: Practice Interviews in Pairs, Fish Bowl Style and Interview Panel
Session 13: Individual Consultation and Feedback

履修条件・関連する科目 Course Prerequisites and Related Courses | | There is no precondition to take this course. However, it is expected to prepare a CV in advance of the class, to be improved as class assignment. |

成績評価の方法と基準 Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | To successfully achieve the expected outcome, students must actively participate in classroom discussions, conduct individual research, prepare presentations on assigned topics and submit any other required assignment. The course evaluation will be based on:
Class participation and contribution to discussions (40%)
Individual work assignments (40%) and Final presentation (20%). Credit is given to C- or C (where applicable) or higher grade by assessing each criterion.

課外学習等(授業時間外学習の指示) Study Load(Self-directed Learning Outside Course Hours) | | Outside the lectures, students are expected to prepare their CVs in applying for UN jobs as well as other short writing assignments for class discussion. Also, they are expected to prepare for their in-class presentations. |
