高エネルギー宇宙線は、宇宙線と地球大気が反応して生成される空気シャワーを通して観測される。高エネルギー宇宙を探る重要なツールである空気シャワー観測の原理と現状を理解することを目的とする。

Goals of the Course

High-energy cosmic rays are observed through the air shower phenomenon, which is the cascade of interactions in the atmosphere. The aim of this course is to understand the principle and the achievements of the air shower observations, an important tool to reveal the high-energy universe.

• 空気シャワー観測量と宇宙線粒子の物理量の対応を原理から理解すること
• 様々な空気シャワー観測実験の本質的な違いを理解すること
• 空気シャワーによる宇宙線・ガンマ線観測の現在の到達点と課題を理解すること

• Understand the principle of connecting the air shower observables to the properties of the primary particle
• Understand the essential difference between the various air shower experiments.
• Understand the current achievements and the remaining questions in the cosmic-ray and gamma-ray observations through air showers
