Course Content or Plan
The goal of this course is to learn the basics of how to conduct academic research through two presentations. You will first decide a topic related to social sciences and study it throughout the entire semester. For the first presentation, you will find sources related to your topic and critically evaluate them to determine how persuasive they are. Concerning the second presentation, you will conduct an original research presentation based upon the information/findings from your first presentation. You will design a small-scale research by using interviews, surveys or others to collect your own original data. After analyzing your data, you will present your findings.

Goals of the course: Through this presentation project, you will be able to:
• Improve your critical thinking skills.
• Expand your presentation skills in English
• Find appropriate sources for your academic research
• Cite important information from sources (= summarize, paraphrase, and quote information)
• Critically evaluate source information to identify its strengths and weaknesses (e.g., what has been established about your topic to date, and which aspects of it need further investigation)
• Determine your research topic and research question(s) in order to conduct your study throughout this semester.
