Goals of the Course [JPN] | | | 現代世界を考える上で，市場経済のメカニズムの理解は必要不可欠です。グローバルな問題，例えば環境問題や南北問題等を市場経済の成果や失敗として読み解くことができます。日本においても，経済構造改革，社会保障改革や格差の問題をめぐる議論で，経済を市場にどこまで委ねるべきかが問われています。この講義では，市場経済の歴史やその仕組みを理解し，現実の経済問題に対する洞察力を高めることを目的とします。 |

Goals of the Course [ENG] | | | This course introduces students to the market economy. Understanding the history and the mechanism of the market economy is indispensable for thinking about the modern world. Many of the problems that nations and the world face such as environmental destruction, unemployment, poverty, education and health can be understood as the fruits and failures of the market. The aim of this course is to promote students' understanding of the market economy and to develop insight into real economic problems. |

Objectives of the Course [JPN] | | 本授業を通じて学生は、、
・グローバルな経済活動と市場経済の基本的な仕組みがわかる。
・現在の国際経済情勢が、戦後の自由化と国際協調、冷戦構造、地域統合、グローバル化とその反動といった歴史的プロセスの中で形成されてきたことを説明できる。
・国際経済をめぐる諸課題（格差、移民、社会保障、経済安全保障など）について、経済的背景と制度的枠組みを踏まえて考察する力を身につける。 |

・understand the basic mechanisms of the market economy and global economic activities;
・be able to explain how contemporary international economic conditions have been shaped through historical processes such as postwar liberalization, international cooperation, the Cold War, and globalization;
・develop the ability to examine current global economic issues by considering their economic and institutional backgrounds. |
