授業の目的　【日本語】
Goals of the Course(JPN)
本授業の目的は、英米を中心としたいわゆる古典的探偵小説を読むことで、探偵小説というジャンルの歴史と特徴を概観することである。エドガー・アラン・ポーやアーサー・コナン・ドイル等の作品から２０世紀に登場したハードボイルド探偵小説やノワール作品へと読み進めることで、英米の古典的探偵小説に共通の要素を把握しつつ、それぞれの作家の創意工夫にも目を向けて行く。

Goals of the Course
The objective of this course is to provide an overview of the history and characteristics of the detective fiction genre by reading "classic" detective stories, primarily from Britain and the United States. By progressing from the works of Edgar Allan Poe and Arthur Conan Doyle to the hardboiled and noir fiction that emerged in the 20th century, students will identify common elements inherent in Anglo-American classic detective fiction while also examining the creative ingenuity of individual authors.

第２回以降の各回において、探偵小説作品を読解しつつ、重要な概念や事項について講義・発表・ディスカッション等を通して理解を深めていく。

必須ではないが、合わせて後期「英米文学特別演習b」 （古典的ではない英米探偵小説に関する授業）を履修することを強く推奨する。

授業への参加 30%
課題 (レポートと発表) 50%
期末レポート 20%.
＊期末レポートの提出は単位取得に必須。
＊欠席３回で評価が下がり、欠席４回以上で不可となる。遅刻3回で欠席1回分とみなす。30
分以上の遅刻は欠席扱いとする。
