Goals of the Course | | This course aims to help students develop the Japanese language skills necessary to understand and express ideas related to economics and law.
Through simplified Japanese texts and collaborative tasks, students will learn key vocabulary, expressions, and structures relevant to legal and economic topics.
The course also encourages students to engage in discussions and presentations on familiar social issues, while respecting diverse proficiency levels and promoting mutual support in group activities. |

Objectives of the Course | | -To be able to understand and use basic Japanese vocabulary and sentence structures related to economics and law.
-To deepen understanding of systems and social issues in Japan and one's own country through simple Japanese.
-To develop the ability to extract necessary information from specialised materials such as charts, documents, and brief news reports.
-To be able to explain and compare one's own thoughts in Japanese on topics related to social issues and systems.
-To acquire the ability to listen to the opinions of others and collaborate to organise and present those opinions.
-To be able to communicate information in multiple ways, including charts, verbally, and in writing, depending on one's Japanese language level.
-To develop a mutual learning attitude by cooperating with classmates with different Japanese language levels.
-To deepen interest in studying law and economics through Japanese. |

Course Content / Plan | | Study basic vocabulary and grammar related to law and economics
JLPTN Level 3: Introduces terminology in easy Japanese with numerous example sentences
JLPTN Levels 2-1: Practice application with actual legal documents and news articles
Task-based activities using simple legal and economic topics
Dealing with familiar topics such as "minimum wage system," "consumption tax," and "contract disputes" from a legal and economic perspective.
Summary of articles/opinion exchange activities
Reading comprehension of specialised materials in "easy Japanese" + bridging the gap to official materials

Course Prerequisites and Related Courses | | ※Students who received an exemption from a Japanese language course in an International and Exchange Centre are underqualified to sign up for this course.
-Eligibility to enrol in this class is to have passed JLPT N3 or above. |

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | Your final grade will be calculated according to the following process:
- Attendance (15％)
- Debating (15%)
- Presentation (10%)
- Writing Assignment (30%)
- Final report (30%)
To pass,
-Students must participate and actively express what they have understood in the class and their thoughts on the topics.
- Students must show their understanding and critical opinions in the oral examinations and the assignments. |

Notice for Students | | This course will be primarily taught in Japanese. This syllabus is temporary and may be adjusted based on students' proficiency levels in Japanese. Students are required to prepare and review each lesson. In addition to the lecturer's assignments, they are expected to carry out work independently.
※Students are expected to attend every class. If a student is more than 10 minutes late to a lecture, he/she will be considered "absent."
※Being late (within 9 minutes) three times is counted as one absence.
※When students would like to withdraw, please email the instructor. |
