Goals of the Course
In this course participants learn two aspects of the history of German economic thought in the first half of the 19th century, through intensive reading of instructor's two English papers.
The one is the Romaticism of Adam Müller with the paper "Trust and Cooperation in German Romanticism: Adam Müller's Position in the History of Socio-Economic thought" (2001). The other ist the Protectionism of Friedrich List with the paper "Noboru Kobayashi's Research on Friedrich List: A Contribution on List's Reception and Interpretation in Japan" (2019).

1. Meeting:
Introduction of this course as a whole.
2. to 6. Meeting:
The intensive reading of the paper "Trust and Cooperation in German Romanticism: Adam Müller's Position in the History of Socio-Economic thought" (2001).
7. to 14. Meeting:
The intensive reading of the paper "Noboru Kobayashi's Research on Friedrich List: A Contribution on List's Reception and Interpretation in Japan" (2002).

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
At the end of the every 2. to 14. meeting (after the intensive reading), each panticipant writes - without the text - a summary of what we read together. So totally 13 summaries will be written by every participant. Only from the summaries every participant will be assessed.
