授業の目的 【英語】
Goals of the Course | | | This course introduces one of the core problems in microeconomics: The allocation of scarce resources. On the basis of many real-world examples, it discusses how benefits and burdens can be divided in a socially desirable manner. Students will learn about different standards of social welfare, and how these standards can be met with the help of methods from bargaining theory, voting theory, and cooperative game theory. Several group exercises provide opportunities to apply these methods in practice, and thereby gain first-hand experience of the difficulties in eliciting preferences, aggregating preferences, and finding a compromise when preferences disagree. |

Objectives of the Course(JPN) | | | Students will be acquainted with core concepts of welfare economics, such as utility, welfare, fairness, and efficiency. After successful completion of this course, students will understand how the design of rules determines the normative properties of bargaining outcomes, voting outcomes, and market outcomes. |

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | Each students has to give an oral presentation of homework results at least once, and must be able to respond to questions from the audience. In the final exam, students have to analyze problems similar to the ones discussed in class. An overall score of 60/100 is required to pass.
Student Presentations: 50%
Final Exam: 50% |
