Goals of the Course(JPN)
Goals of the Course
Microscopic phenomena at the atomic level form the foundation of modern science and technology, yet they cannot be explained solely within the framework of classical physics learned in high school. This course explores the various experimental discoveries made in the field of physics at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, and the accompanying theoretical advances. With a background in classical mechanics, mathematics, and basic chemistry, this course aims to equip students with a foundational understanding of quantum theory and the ability to apply experimental results to theoretical insights. Specifically, the course aims to enable students to:
1. Correctly explain the Rayleigh-Jeans, Wien, and Planck radiation equations for blackbody radiation.
2. Correctly explain past experiments demonstrating quantum phenomena.
3. Understand Bohr's correspondence principle and quantization based on classical mechanics, and correctly explain the hydrogen atom model.
4. Understand and explain the relationship between quantum theory and quantum technologies such as X-rays and lasers.
5. Understand the basics of the Schrödinger equation and be able to solve simple equations.
