Goals of the Course(JPN) | | | この授業の目的は、メディアによる報道に関心を向けながら、国際社会の動きを捉えることにある。とくに、新聞やテレビ、各種のWEBメディアが報道する問題に社会科学の分析視角からアプローチし、国際政治・経済の動向に対する実践的な解釈を可能にすることにある。今日の国際社会には、多様な問題が山積している。紛争や勢力争い、人権侵害や環境破壊、貿易・投資をめぐる摩擦などが、世界各地で深刻化している。山積する問題の中から、メディアは何を、どのようにレポートしているのか。それらは、社会科学の分析視角からは、どのように捉えられるのか。とくに、政治学や経済学、国際関係論の理論をつかうと、いかなる解釈が可能になるのか。この授業では、メディアにより伝えられる情報を無批判に受容することなく、多角的な観点から精査するという専門性を追求していく。 |

授業の目的 【英語】
Goals of the Course | | | The aim of this course is to follow global developments while focusing on media reports. In particular, its aim is to arrive at a practical understanding of the latest trends in international politics and economics by re-examining international issues reported in the newspapers, TV, and online news media from the perspectives of the social sciences. A number of issues remain unresolved in today's international society. Especially serious in various parts of the world are inter-state conflicts and geopolitical rivalries, human rights abuses and environmental degradation, as well as trade disputes and investment disputes. Among these issues, which ones have the media been reporting extensively, and in what ways? In what sense can they be understood from the perspectives of the social sciences? In particular, in what sense can they be comprehended within the context of theories used in the fields of Political Science, Economics, and International Relations? This course follows the professional practice of scrutinizing media reports from multiple perspectives without accepting them uncritically. |

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan | | この授業で重点的にカバーする問題は、以下の3種である。
安全保障 -- 領土やエネルギーをめぐる国家間の紛争や、各国による軍事力の拡張が招く地域秩序の揺らぎなど
政治・社会 -- 人権や民主主義に関する地域社会の危機から、環境や資源、経済開発に関するグローバルな課題まで
国際経済 -- 貿易・投資をめぐる摩擦や国際金融に関するリスクと、それらを管理するための国際的な取り組みの諸相 | The issues covered in this course can be divided into the following three groups:
Security issues: inter-state disputes over territories and energy resources, as well as
the deterioration of regional order brought about by the expansion of national armed forces
Political and social issues: regional crises of human rights and democracy, as well as
global challenges concerning the environment, natural resources, and economic development
International economic issues: trade/investment disputes and international financial risks,
as well as various aspects of international initiatives to manage these issues |
