Goals of the Course | | | The purpose of this course is to develop students’ ability to read poems written in English from a variety of perspectives through close readings of poetry by the American-born British poet T. S. Eliot. The course will draw on a range of contextual sources, including biographical materials, socio-cultural background, and critical scholarship. |

（２）詩の中で表現されている物事や思惟を、上記（1）を踏まえて把握できるようになること。

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan | | 〈概要〉
各回ごとに受講者の中から発表担当者を決め、発表担当者が提起した疑問を題材として、少人数のグループに分かれてディスカッションを行う（当然ながら、各回で扱う範囲を各受講者が事前に読んでおくことが前提となる）。担当教員はグループごとにディスカッションの内容を確認し、最後にクラス全体に向けて簡潔な講義と更なる問題提起を行う。

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | 授業参加点（発表・授業中の発言など）: 70％、期末レポート: 30％。（60点以上を合格とする。）
＊欠席４回以上で不可となる。遅刻3回で欠席1回分とみなす。30分以上の遅刻は欠席扱いとする。 |
