Students will be able to explain how human language activities are carried out from a psycholinguistic perspective. |

授業の内容や構成 Course Content / Plan | | Lectures on psycholinguistics will be given according to the following schedule. The language of instruction and discussion will be entirely English.
Week 1: Introduction to psycholinguistics (chapter 1) Week 2: Foundations of language, Animal communication Week 3: Language development Week 4: Language production (chapters 2, 3, 4) Week 5: Language production (chapters 2, 3, 4) Week 6: Perception for language, Spoken word recognition (chapter 7) Week 7: Perception for language, Spoken word recognition (chapter 8) Week 8: Interim review, mid-term exam Week 9: Visual word recognition (chapter 9) Week 10: Visual word recognition (chapter 9) Week 11: Sentence processing (chapters 10, 11, 12) Week 12: Sentence processing (chapters 10, 11, 12) Week 13: Sentence processing (chapters 10, 11, 12) Week 14: Brain and language, Architecture of the language processing system (chapter 13) Week 15: Course review, Final exam |

履修条件・関連する科目 Course Prerequisites and Related Courses | | | Because the lectures will be conducted in English, it is important that students have a good command of English. A background in linguistics, psychology, and/or a related discipline in cognitive science is recommended but not required. |

成績評価の方法と基準 Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | In-class contribution (20%), mid-term exam (30%), final exam (50%) If students miss five lectures, they will be considered "absent." A letter grade will be assigned based on students' absolute performance. To pass, students must earn 60% in total. |
