Goals of the Course | | | A complex system is a system composed of many (and in some cases diverse) interacting components whose behavior cannot easily be traced or predicted. Complex systems may exhibit emergent properties that cannot be reduced to the properties of their individual parts. Such phenomena can be observed in physical systems, chemical systems, living organisms, ecosystems, and even in human social systems. In recent years, mathematical and computational approaches from an informatics perspective have been increasingly employed to elucidate complex systems. This course aims to study research cases presented by faculty members in the Complex Systems Science program and to cultivate the ability to develop new perspectives for the creation of informatics and value in the study of complex systems. |
