素粒子論における最新の研究成果を理解する上で必要となる基礎知識を充実させ、広い視野を育成し、出題されるレポートを作成することで深い思考力の涵養することを目的とする。

Goals of the Course
This course aims to provide the students with the basics in theoretical particle physics to help them to understand recent developments in it. The students are required to solve assignments in order to deepen their understanding about the lectures.

The students understand the basic notions of particle physics that are necessary to launch one's own research project of it.
授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan
弦理論は, 素粒子物理における4つの基本的な相互作用を統一し, かつ無矛盾な量子重力の最有力候補と考えられている。本講義ではその基礎を習得することを目的とする。具体的には,
・Polyakov弦の導入
・光円錐量子化
・弦の質量スペクトラム
・D-brane
・T-duality
・AdS/CFT対応の基礎
などを取り扱う。
適宜、これらのトピックスに関係する問題を出すのでそれを解いてもらう。

To learn some basics of string theory. Covered in this lecture are
・Polyakov string
・Light-cone quantization
・String mass spectrum
・D-brane
・T-duality
・AdS/CFT correspondence
The students are required to solve problems assigned during the lectures.

Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
レポートで評価する。講義内容の基礎を正しく理解していることを合格の基準とする。履修取り下げを行う場合には履修取り下げ届を11月末までに提出してください。履修取り下げの場合は「W(欠席)」とし、 出席して規定の点数に達 しなければ「F(不可)」とします。
