Goals of the Course
This Overseas Fieldwork (OFW) aims to provide students with an opportunity to gain experience conducting a research project in a developing country and working in group settings with people from diverse backgrounds. In 2026, students will conduct fieldwork in Indonesia. Students will be able to gain fundamental fieldwork skills, enhance their communication and problem-solving skills through group work.

Learn about the real development issues confronting many developing countries today.
Acquire an interdisciplinary perspective through group work with students from different academic disciplines.
Nurture their insights and skills for coordinating among stakeholders.
Enhance their communication skills through collaborative group work with individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
Conduct a research project in English.

Course Content / Plan
A detailed fieldwork schedule will be announced at the Preparatory Seminar for GSID Overseas Fieldwork (OFW).
Before going to the field, students are required to have regular group meetings to develop their fieldwork plan.

Note: The course "Preparatory Seminar for GSID Overseas Fieldwork " is a required prerequisite to participate in OFW
成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
Group report 40%, Group presentation 30%, Participation in group work 30%
Credit is given to C- or C (where applicable) or higher grades for each criterion.
Students must submit their final fieldwork report by the end of December 2026.
