Course Content / Plan | | Part I: Foundational Lectures (Sessions 1–10): These sessions utilize multimedia lectures and slides to establish core concepts. Students are expected to engage with the material and contribute to class discussions.

3. Global Economy and Overview of International Economic Law (2)
4. States and WTO
5. International Trade Law (1)
6. International Trade Law (2)
7. International Trade Dispute Settlement
8. International Investment Law (1)
9. International Investment Law (2)
10. Case Studies: Intelecutual Property Rights vs Tabacco Regulations; Investors' Accountability for Human Rights Protection
Part II: Seminars & Presentations (Sessions 11–15): The latter half of the course focuses on student-led seminars. Each student will deliver a 15–20-minute presentation (including Q&A) regarding their term paper topic. Peer engagement is essential; attendees must participate in the dialogue and submit a "comment paper" at the conclusion of each session. |

Course Prerequisites and Related Courses | | | There are no formal prerequisites for this course. However, to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the subject matter, students are encouraged to concurrently or subsequently enroll in Multinational Corporations and International Law, International Cooperation Law and the Law of the United Nations within the GSID. |

Study Load(Self-directed Learning Outside Course Hours) | | This introductory course emphasizes the practical application of international economic law through the analysis of primary legal tools, such as treaties and judicial rulings. Success requires a high degree of independent preparation; students must complete assigned readings before class to facilitate advanced discussion. Additionally, students are expected to integrate current global events into their research and presentations.
Students are expected to learn independently and to arrive well prepared for classes. Reading relevant pages of the textbook in advance is very important, because our work in class confirms and improves their understandings on the subject. In addition, they need be up to the minute with current global news for the presentation in class and term paper. |
