Goals of the Course | | This course aims to help students explore sustainability through multicultural collaborative learning in Singapore and develop practical perspectives by comparing local practices with those in Japan. Through collaboration with local researchers, community experts, NGOs, and students, as well as fieldwork and joint activities, students will gain a multifaceted understanding of how cities and nature coexist in a highly sustainable urban environment.
Students will also strengthen their initiative, critical thinking, and international communication skills through joint research, problem identification, discussion, and presentation of findings, enabling them to practically engage with and articulate sustainability in global contexts. |

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan | | 環境・サステナビリティへの取り組みは、国や地域によってどのように異なるのであろうか。本授業では、世界各国における環境問題への取り組みを、自らの目で見て体験的に学ぶことを目的とする。
シンガポールは、自然環境の保護や持続可能な都市づくりにおいて先進的な取り組みを行っている国であり、社会経済的・政治的側面を含めた総合的な環境政策を展開している。これらの特徴を多角的に理解することを通じて、環境問題に対する国際的視野を養う。
本プログラムは、シンガポール国立大学（NUS）との連携による多文化共修の授業である。シンガポール現地において16日間の研修を実施し、合同ワークショップおよびフィールドワークを行う。あわせて、渡航前には事前説明会および事例研究の勉強会（3回・各1.5時間）を実施し、帰国後には最終発表会を行う。
現地研修は、以下の段階で構成される。
Day 1：オリエンテーション
Day 2–5：NUSでの授業、現地学生との交流、合同ワークショップおよび発表会
Day 6–15：グループに分かれての環境関連施設の見学およびフィールドワーク
Day 16：フィールドワークのまとめ、各グループの成果共有・交流、帰国準備
本授業では、講義に加えて現地での対話や実地調査を重視し、環境・サステナビリティに関する課題を主体的に考察し、他者に伝える力を養うことを目指す。 | How do approaches to environmental sustainability differ across countries and regions?
This course offers students an experiential learning opportunity to examine global sustainability initiatives, with a focus on Singapore.
Singapore is known for its advanced environmental protection and sustainable urban development, supported by integrated social, economic, and political policies. Through on-site learning, students will develop an international perspective on environmental issues.
This overseas field-based course is conducted in collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS). It includes a 16-day program in Singapore, as well as pre-departure orientation sessions and case study workshops (three sessions, 1.5 hours each) will be conducted prior to departure, followed by a final presentation session after returning.
Schedule:
Day 1: Orientation
Days 2–５: Lectures at NUS, interaction with local students, joint workshops, and presentations
Days 6–15: Group-based fieldwork and visits to environmental-related facilities
Day 16: Fieldwork summary, group presentations and exchange, and preparation for return
Through lectures, fieldwork, and interaction with local students and stakeholders, students will develop the ability to analyze sustainability issues and communicate their findings effectively. |

Emphasis is placed on active participation, contribution to teamwork, and depth of understanding of environmental sustainability. |
