Goals of the Course | | In this course, students learn about environmental management, community action, sustainable tourism, natural disasters, disaster risk reduction, and environmental issues in Bali, Indonesia through hands-on fieldwork and real-world experiences.
By engaging in multicultural collaborative learning with local university students, participants develop practical skills and a global perspective beyond the classroom.
Through comparison with Japan, students deepen their understanding of sustainability while building meaningful international networks for the future. |

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan | | 学生は、受入大学（インドネシア工科大学バンドン校〈Institut Teknologi Bandung：ITB〉およびその協定校であるウダヤナ大学〈バリ島〉）の教員による講義、現地学生との合同フィールドワーク、グループディスカッション、ならびに学術交流を通じて、多文化環境における協働的学習に取り組む。これらの活動を通じて、学生は環境問題を科学的観点のみならず、社会的・文化的観点からも理解する能力を涵養する。
さらに、地域コミュニティやNGOとの交流を通じて、学生はバリ島における環境コミュニティマネジメントおよび持続可能な観光、防災・減災、都市環境、森林保全、廃棄物管理、環境政策について学び、制度的・文化的差異が日常生活や持続可能性にどのような影響を与えるかについて考察する。
出発前には、事前オリエンテーション、ケーススタディ・ワークショップ、ならびに海外安全教育（全3回、各1.5時間）を実施する。帰国後には、最終成果発表会において調査・学習成果を発表する。
現地日程（予定）
1日目：バンドン工科大学（ウダヤナ大学連携）にてオリエンテーション
2～4日目：合同フィールドワークおよび講義
5～9日目：各種訪問調査および環境フィールドワーク
10－12日目：最終討論・発表会 | As a developing country prioritizing economic growth and industrial expansion, Indonesia is confronting escalating environmental challenges. Nowhere are these pressures more visible than in Bali, one of the world’s renowned tourist destinations, where environmental degradation is intensified by overtourism and challenges in resource management.
In this course, Students engage in collaborative learning in multicultural settings through lectures by faculty at the host university (Institut Teknologi Bandung: ITB and its partner university Udayana University, Bali), joint fieldwork with local students, group discussions, and academic exchanges. These activities foster the ability to understand environmental issues not only from scientific perspectives but also from social and cultural viewpoints. In addition, through interactions with local communities and NGOs, students learn about environmental community management and sustainable tourism in Bali, disaster risk reduction, urban environments, forest conservation, waste management, and environmental policy, and consider how institutional and cultural differences shape everyday life and sustainability.
This overseas field-based course is conducted in collaboration with the Institute Teknologi Bandung (ITB). It includes a 10-day program in Bali-Indonesia, as well as pre-departure orientation sessions and case study workshops (three sessions, 1.5 hours each) will be conducted prior to departure, followed by a final presentation session after returning.
